Learn a tune by ear

Use the slow-downer to get a tune into your ear before you read it.

  1. On the Practise tab, press play on Learn by ear.
  2. Drag Speed down to 0.75 or slower; the pitch stays natural.
  3. Set A and B to loop the phrase that is giving you trouble.
  4. Nudge Pitch if you play a transposing horn, and use the EQ to bring a part forward.
  5. When your ear has it, switch to the chart and play along.

Tip. Loop four bars at a time. You learn the hard part, not the whole tune.

You will end up with: The melody in your ear, ready to read and play.
