Producing in lossless and Producer plans

What is free and what is paid?

Free, always: practising, the slow-downer, recording in the browser, starting your own tunes, sharing charts, MP3 backings and MP3 playback. That covers almost everyone.

Paid: producing a track in lossless WAV, which means uploading lossless parts, rendering the lossless master, and downloading your master and stems. It is the only part that costs anything, because lossless files are large and the cost is real.

How will I pay for it? Is it a subscription?

No subscription. You buy a small one-off pack of track credits and spend one credit to produce a tune in lossless. Bigger packs cost less per track. You only ever pay for the tracks you actually finish.

What will it cost?

It is priced to cover costs, not to make a profit, so it stays cheap. The planned starting prices are around €4 for one track, €9 for three, and €25 for ten. These may be adjusted before launch.

Do I keep my lossless files?

Yes. The download is the point. When you produce a track you download your lossless master and stems, and those are yours forever, on your own drive.

Online, we keep the lossless working files for a generous window (the plan is twelve months) and then slim them down to MP3 to keep storage sane. Your downloaded masters are unaffected, and you can re-upload or renew if you need the working files online again.

Why charge for this at all if the rest is free?

Because lossless production is the one genuinely expensive thing here, and the fair way to cover it is to let the few people doing it chip in for their own work, rather than make it free and have it quietly subsidised by everyone else. The charge only ever reflects cost.

Can I do this now?

During the beta the lossless tools are open while we finish the payment side, so you can already upload lossless parts, build masters and download them. The track packs switch on when payments go live.
